Sometimes a business idea doesn't begin with a business plan. It begins with something you see that you simply can't forget.

 

My wife and I lived and worked in Thailand, and during our time there, we needed medical care ourselves. We went to hospitals, had tests done, and experienced firsthand the level of care and attention that was available to us. We remember being treated with kindness, patience and respect. We remember how seriously our needs were taken. At the time, we appreciated it—but we didn't realize how much that experience would stay with us.

 

When we returned to Canada, we began doing construction work in retirement and seniors' homes. That's when everything changed.

 

We saw elderly people waiting in hallways. We saw people waiting for services that simply weren't available. We saw seniors spending long periods in emergency departments, waiting for care. We saw people who seemed to have become lost in a system that was supposed to be caring for them. And, in some situations, we saw residents spending much of their time isolated in their rooms with far too little attention and human interaction.

 

We were horrified.

 

These weren't statistics. They weren't stories we had heard on the news. These were real people. People who had spent their lives raising families, working, building communities and contributing to the country around them. They had reached the point in life where they should have been able to slow down, feel safe and enjoy the years they had earned.

 

And we couldn't stop thinking about Thailand.

 

We kept remembering the care and service we had personally experienced there. We remembered the respect given to older people, the warmth of the culture, the incredible healthcare options, the food, the weather, the massage and wellness services, and the overall quality of life that could be achieved at a fraction of the cost of comparable care in Canada.

 

Eventually, we asked ourselves a very simple question:

 

Why can't Canadian seniors have that?

 

That question became the beginning of this project.

 

We aren't trying to recreate Canada in Thailand. We want to bring the best of both worlds together.

 

We want to create a small English-speaking oasis where Canadian retirees can experience everything that makes Thailand so special without having to feel lost because of a language barrier or unfamiliar culture. A place where someone can wake up to warm weather, enjoy wonderful food, access excellent medical and wellness services, receive massage therapy, meet other Canadians and English-speaking residents, and most importantly, know that someone is there to help.

 

We understand that moving to another country can be intimidating. That's why we want to be more than simply a place to live. We want to be the bridge between the life you know and the life you could have.

 

Thailand has so much to offer, but you shouldn't have to navigate it alone.

 

Our goal is simple: to give Canadian retirees the dignity, attention, comfort and quality of life they deserve.

 

We believe getting older should never mean becoming invisible.

 

We believe retirement shouldn't be about waiting for the next appointment, sitting in a hallway or wondering when someone will come to help.

 

And we believe your golden years should actually feel golden.

 

That's why we're doing this.

 

We saw something that broke our hearts. We remembered something that had inspired us. And we decided that instead of simply talking about what could be better, we were going to build something better.
